- notes
- Senate Bill 806 (Sen. Nick Pisciottano), Printer's Number 1808. Passed the Senate 48-2 on June 10, 2026 and the House 163-40 on October 7, 2026 without amendment; presented to the Governor October 21 and approved October 22, 2026 as Act No. 99 of 2026 (General Assembly bill page). Section 6 of the enrolled text: 'This act shall take effect in 60 days.' effectiveDate 2026-12-21 is COMPUTED as 60 days after the October 22 approval; the act does not state a calendar date. Penalties come from the bill text (Section 5(c)). Distinct from ny-synthetic-performer-disclosure and ca-sb1050-synthetic-performer-ads (both limited to synthetic human performers in ads): this covers any AI-generated or AI-modified synthetic content in advertising that creates a false consumer perception. Closest federal analogue us-ai-labeling-act-2026 is a pending bill.
