Properties

family

restore-upscale

modality

black-and-white or low-resolution footage -> colorized video -> upscaled video

whyMultiModel

Colorization and super-resolution are separate specialist models; an upscaler alone cannot add colour, and colorizing before upscaling lets the upscaler sharpen the already-coloured frames.

controls

Stage ordering (colorize before upscale), choice of upscaler (Real-ESRGAN Video vs Topaz), target resolution, clip length for cost testing.

useCases

[Restoring archival or family film footage][Colorizing and remastering black-and-white clips for modern displays]

pitfalls

Per-frame colorization can shimmer or shift hues between frames, so test on short clips before running a full reel.
